Clementine Mission (1994)
A joint U.S. Department of Defense / NASA robotic probe that mapped the Moon in 1994 and returned the first indications of water ice at the lunar poles. Its DoD involvement and dual-use sensor testing have fueled claims (notably by deputy manager John Brandenburg) that a hidden purpose was to survey the Moon for anomalous structures.

It is on this map through a lunar mission; the UAP claim about it belongs to Brandenburg, not to the probe. AN EMPTY SUBJECT IS A RULING, NOT A GAP - a missing field would have meant nobody had looked.

Notes on this record
Recategorised from "incident" to "gov" on 26 August 2026. It is a program, not an incident: cat "incident" had become the destination for anything with no affiliation, and 18 of the 29 nodes in it were documents, programmes, concepts or patterns whose own `form` field already said so. The destination is read from this node's own role text, which says "Department of Defense / NASA robotic probe".
