UAP reports at ICBM silos (1966-1977)

AARO's Historical Record, volume 1 (2024), sets out as its "Secondary Narrative" that "a cluster of UAP sightings that occurred in close proximity to U.S. nuclear facilities have resulted in the malfunctioning and destruction of nuclear missiles and a test reentry vehicle." It states that AARO interviewed five former USAF members who served in and around intercontinental ballistic missile silos at Malmstrom, Ellsworth, Vandenberg and Minot between 1966 and 1977; that some claimed UAP sightings near the silos while others claimed UAP disruptions to ICBM operations, with launch control facilities going offline or losing all power; and that one interviewee and a USAF videographer claimed to have observed and recorded a UAP destroying an ICBM loaded with a dummy warhead in mid-flight. AARO says it is researching US and adversarial activity related to these events, including US programmes that tested defensive ballistic missile capabilities, and that it will report on unresolved allegations in a second volume this project does not hold. SEPARATELY, in the House hearing of 17 May 2022, Rep. Mike Gallagher put the Malmstrom case to Scott Bray - "ten of our nuclear ICBMs were rendered inoperable. At the same time, a glowing red orb was observed overhead" - saying explicitly "I am not commenting on the accuracy of this." Bray answered that he had "heard stories" but had "not seen the official data on that", and that the UAP Task Force had "not looked at that incident". WHAT THIS MAP HOLDS IS THE GOVERNMENT DESCRIBING THE CLAIM, not a contemporaneous record of any silo incident. No such record is held here.
