John Mack
Harvard Medical School psychiatrist and Pulitzer Prize-winning biographer; spent the 1990s interviewing over 200 people reporting alien-abduction experiences, part of NIDS's 'invisible college' advisory circle. By his second book, Passport to the Cosmos (1999), he had moved away from a nuts-and-bolts reading toward treating the encounters as a real event met through an altered state of consciousness - a shift that anticipated the modern consciousness-first framing of the phenomenon.
In the consciousness threadOperator ruling, 25 August 2026. This entity was MISSED by the automatic pass of the same date because that pass tested only PSI vocabulary and contained no consciousness term. Its own role text reads: "reading toward treating the encounters as a real event met through an altered state of consciousness - a shift that anticipated the modern consciousness-first fram". Recorded as a ruling rather than as a vocabulary match, because that is what it is. The category axis is untouched: this node stays cat=science.
