Louis Witten

1957-01-01year known, day not recorded

Theoretical physicist specializing in gravitation and general relativity who worked at RIAS - the Research Institute for Advanced Studies, the Martin Company's research arm - during the late-1950s Cold War push to understand (and possibly engineer) gravity. He has said Wright Field commissioned gravity research at the time. Father of Edward Witten, the pre-eminent string theorist. A concrete link between mainstream physics and the mid-century military "anti-gravity" research milieu.

In the UAP recordRuled into the unidentified-phenomena thread on 3 September 2026 by reading this entity's record, after the automated screen proposed "neither" for it. The screen's "neither" only means that no term from its vocabulary fired; the deciding phrase here is this entity's own: "Research Institute for Adv". An editorial classification of which thread this entity belongs to; it rests on no page and does not claim to.
