Chinese-American physicist at the University of Alabama in Huntsville's Center for Space Plasma and Aeronomic Research who, with Douglas Torr, theorized that rotating ions in high-temperature superconducting discs could generate a repulsive gravitomagnetic ("AC gravity") field. Her 1990s work was funded by NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center; in 1999 she left academia to found AC Gravity LLC, which received a $448,970 Department of Defense grant in 2001. She then stopped publishing and dropped from public view - fueling "disappeared antigravity scientist" lore - but was in fact traceable: struck by a car on the UAH campus in 2014 and died of Alzheimer's-related causes in 2021.
