Varginha Incident (1996)
A series of reported UFO sightings and alleged non-human creature encounters in Varginha, Brazil, beginning January 13, 1996, that became known as "Brazil's Roswell." A Brazilian Army inquiry concluded a local resident with disabilities was mistaken for the alleged creature and that military activity in the area was routine. Witnesses have long alleged a cover-up involving captured non-human beings transferred to U.S. custody, a claim neither government has substantiated. Resurfaced in U.S. disclosure politics via a January 2026 press conference.
