Air-conditioning industrialist; funded Thomas Townsend Brown's gravity research and hosted the 1957 Chapel Hill conference on gravitation, which a 1971 Australian intelligence memo describes as an academic front for CIA-backed anti-gravity study. Wrote a 1959 science-fiction novel, "The Stars Are Too High," about a fabricated alien invasion using anti-gravity craft.
