Clementine Mission (1994)

1994

A joint U.S. Department of Defense / NASA robotic probe that mapped the Moon in 1994 and returned the first indications of water ice at the lunar poles. Its DoD involvement and dual-use sensor testing have fueled claims (notably by deputy manager John Brandenburg) that a hidden purpose was to survey the Moon for anomalous structures.
