Jeffrey Kripal
2007
J. Newton Rayzor professor of religion at Rice University and the leading academic scholar of the paranormal and anomalous experience. Wrote the definitive scholarly history of the Esalen Institute, co-authored The Super Natural (2016) with experiencer Whitley Strieber, and founded Rice's Archives of the Impossible - a rare bridge legitimizing the study of the non-physical, experiential side of the UAP phenomenon within the academy. His 2024 book How to Think Impossibly (About Souls, UFOs, Time, Belief, and Everything Else) argues the flying saucer and the soul are the same order of phenomenon - that the UFO is a modern form of an ancient contact experience.
