John Mack

1992–2004

Harvard Medical School psychiatrist and Pulitzer Prize-winning biographer; spent the 1990s interviewing over 200 people reporting alien-abduction experiences, part of NIDS's 'invisible college' advisory circle. By his second book, Passport to the Cosmos (1999), he had moved away from a nuts-and-bolts reading toward treating the encounters as a real event met through an altered state of consciousness - a shift that anticipated the modern consciousness-first framing of the phenomenon.
