White House Chief of Staff under Bill Clinton (1998-2001) and senior counselor to Barack Obama; became one of the most prominent mainstream political figures pushing for UFO disclosure, tweeting in 2015 that his biggest failure of the year was "not securing the disclosure of the UFO files." At a 2002 Coalition for Freedom of Information press conference, called for declassifying UFO records over 25 years old. Wrote the foreword to journalist Leslie Kean's 2010 book on the subject, and in 2016 said he had convinced Hillary Clinton to pursue UFO file declassification.
