UCLA physicist and charter member of the American Meteor Society; Lincoln LaPaz's former supervisor. Consulted (though not present) at the February 1949 Los Alamos green fireball conference - reported he could produce a similar yellowish-green glow experimentally in his lab, and separately noted conspicuous Soviet non-attendance at a related international geophysics conference.
