Paul Alfred Biefeld

1923–1943

German-American astronomer and physicist (1867-1943); professor of astronomy and director of the Warner and Swasey Observatory at Denison University in Granville, Ohio, from 1911 until his death. Thomas Townsend Brown was briefly his student there, and the term "Biefeld-Brown effect" came from their reported collaboration on charged-capacitor thrust. Caveats worth noting: Brown attended Denison only about a year and the university's records show no evidence of joint Biefeld-Brown experiments, and the oft-repeated claim that Biefeld studied alongside Einstein appears overstated - the two were at most passing acquaintances at ETH Zurich.
