SAF/AA (Office of the Administrative Assistant)

1947

Office of the Administrative Assistant to the Secretary of the Air Force - a low-profile but powerful office that, per the Air Force's own 2019 history, became the service's conduit into the black world: it officially assigned personnel working black programs, acted as the cover mechanism for the NRO relationship (the Green Door), and controlled the Air Force's contingency funds. The real bureaucratic home of Air Force special-access secrecy.
