Allen Dulles

1953–1969

First civilian Director of Central Intelligence (1953-1961), the CIA's longest-serving director. Appointed by Eisenhower; commissioned the CIA's Robertson Panel weeks into his tenure. Forced to resign by JFK after the 1961 Bay of Pigs failure. Later served on the Warren Commission investigating JFK's assassination - a role widely scrutinized given his own prior dismissal by Kennedy.
