The Monroe Institute

Consciousness-exploration center in Faber, Virginia founded by Robert Monroe, developer of the Hemi-Sync binaural-beat method and the Gateway Experience out-of-body program. Its methods were the subject of the U.S. Army's 1983 CIA-analyzed Gateway Process report, and it later hired the Army remote-viewing unit's Skip Atwater as Research Director. THE GOVERNMENT HIRED IT TWICE, FIVE YEARS APART. In 1978 the Army approached the Monroe Institute of Applied Sciences under GONDOLA WISH: Robert Monroe was interviewed on 6 April, recontacted on 3 May and, per the GONDOLA WISH Assessment Report of 25 August 1978, "has agreed to train three MI personnel in OOBE at his laboratory during October and November 1978, for a fee of $2,000." In 1983 a contract was signed on 19 July for "One-on-One" training of a CENTER LANE operative at MIAS; operatives attended Gateway training there in August and November 1983, RAPT seminars in December 1983 and January 1984, and one-on-one training as late as 6-10 February 1984. RAPT was cancelled as a screening tool on 13 March 1984. Between November 1978 and July 1983 this project holds nothing.
