The first detonation of a nuclear weapon, July 16, 1945, in New Mexico. AARO's 2024 historical report reviews alleged U.S. government UAP involvement "since 1945," using Trinity as its implicit starting point.

AARO never presents the Trinity test as the starting point of its review; it gives a year. "Trinity" appears exactly twice in the whole 63-page file, both times inside endnote citations of a Department of Energy web page on printed 57, supporting the Manhattan Project paragraph on printed 40 - neither is a scope statement. What is drawn here is a shared year and nothing more. CORRECTED THE SAME DAY: until 2026-08-26 this claim put "1945 to present" in quotation marks, and that phrase is not in the report. The nearest wording, "from 1945 to the present", is on printed 10, which this project has not read and located only by searching the held file; the words now quoted are the Section IV title on printed 13, which has been read. -

The only cat:incident node carrying no type at all. A one-day event, 16 July 1945, and properly in this story: AARO's historical review begins "1945 to present", Vallee co-authored a book alleging a 1945 crash at the site, and the map already links it to Roswell as an origin-era New Mexico incident. Operator decision, 2026-08-21.
DELIBERATELY UNTYPED, decided with the operator. A real event, but a nuclear one, in this set only because AARO reviewed alleged UAP involvement. Placing it on the events lane beside Roswell would assert a kinship the record does not support. Revisit only if a document ties it to the subject directly.
Alleged 1945 crash at the test site, investigated and disputed; AARO's historical review takes 1945 as its starting point. The nuclear test itself is not in dispute - the UAP claim attached to it is.
